Gamification

If you've been updated to my blog lately and to the tasks' section, you'll probably know that last week we learnt a bit about Game Based Learning. Even though Gamification may seem the same, the truth is that both terms do differ a lot. While game based learning is the explicit use of games in class, gamification is the application of typical elements of games such as rules, competition among members or points scoring.

We have learnt about gamification though an interactive app called Deck Toys which allows us teachers to create different activities to practice vocabulary, watch videos, read texts and learn new concepts in a practical way. This app only allows the student to go further if he or she does the activity correctly. To add this competitive touch, Deck Toys gives points to the student depending on their answers.

Even though this week's task was optional, I wanted to learn a bit more about the app so I've decided to create my own Deck Toys for a Thanksgiving lesson we prepared for class. If you want to see how it works, I'm leaving the link below. Enjoy!
